Topic Prenatal counselling-the role of the Fetal/Pediatric Neurologist
Description:
This webinar discusses how to provide accurate counselling at a multidisciplinary Fetal Neurology Clinic (FNC). Parents are counselled regarding the clinical significance of brain anomalies encountered in their fetus, incorporating disruptive lesions as well as genetically based malformations.
Unlike pediatric neurologists, fetal neurologists diagnose and prognosticate using mainly imaging, as they cannot examine the baby directly. The integration of fetal neurologists into FNCs is essential for providing expert counselling. This webinar highlights the need for specialized training, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the development of comprehensive service designs. Additionally, it emphasizes the critical role of fetal neurologists in identifying brain anomalies early and providing thorough counselling to parents, helping them understand the prognosis, potential interventions, and long-term outcomes for their unborn child.
