It has been a privilege to serve as the EPNS President for the last 4 years. As my term ends I would like to congratulate Professor Kevin Rostasy on his successful election to the role. I know that Kevin will bring new ideas whilst strengthening the well-established activities of the society. I would like to express my thanks to the 2018-2022 EPNS Board members for their energy, enthusiasm and hard work on behalf of the society. The Board sets the policies and direction of the EPNS however the society is made up of almost 2000 members who each have an important role to play in its success.
Our understanding of the neurobiology underlying many of the genetic and neurodevelopmental diseases we manage is growing at an almost exponential rate. Having worked almost 30y in the specialty I have never been as hopeful for the prospects for children with neurological disease as I am now as new therapies; pharmacological, surgical, immune based, gene-related and technological are developed. Paediatric neurology will have to change to meet these new challenges and the EPNS will be at the forefront of those changes educating, advocating, collaborating and innovating. Please join the rest of the EPNS family in Glasgow for our congress at the end of April this year to learn the new and old science of paediatric neurology.
I wish Kevin and the new board continued success for the next four years.
