Topic:

Clinical and Electrophysiological Characterization of Essential Tremor in 18 Children and Adolescents

Description:

Essential tremor is one of the most common movement disorders in adults, however, its characteristics in children remain under-recognized. Early identification of pediatric ET is important for differential diagnosis and appropriate management, given its impact on quality of life and daily functioning. In this Journal Club, we will discuss an original study investigating essential tremor in the pediatric population. We will examine the clinical characteristics, including age of onset, tremor distribution, and severity, alongside electrophysiological findings. The discussion will aim to enhance understanding of pediatric tremor, and diagnostic challenges and the potential role of neurophysiology in supporting the clinical diagnosis of essential tremor in children will be highlighted.
